- Reduces PWM flicker: Many OLED and AMOLED screens use Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) to lower brightness. At low brightness levels, this can cause the screen to flicker, leading to eye strain and headaches for some users. An OLED saver maintains a high, flicker-free hardware brightness while using a dark software overlay to dim the screen visually.
- Prevents screen burn-in: By using a filter to dim parts of the screen, an OLED saver reduces the risk of “burn-in,” which is the permanent image retention caused by static on-screen elements (like a navigation bar).

For Android devices
You can download apps like “OLED Saver” or “Screen Dimmer” from the Google Play Store. These apps typically require accessibility permissions to apply the dimming overlay system-wide.
For Windows
You can configure a built-in screen saver by going to Settings > Personalization > Lock screen. However, this is a traditional screen saver and not a dedicated anti-flicker tool like the Android apps.
For ASUS OLED monitors
ASUS monitors with OLED panels have a built-in “OLED Care” feature that includes a screen saver. You can enable it through the monitor’s on-screen display (OSD) menu by navigating to System Setup > OLED Setup > Screen Protection
